Who are You?
By Kehinde Hopo
Many Christians so not really appreciate the power and potency of prayer. This has had enormous implications for many of these people as it has made them vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy.
I know of a brother who was involved in an evangelism program. During the program, he had occasion to pray for a lady, who unknown to him, had the spirit of witchcraft. This brother was placed in a very dangerous position spiritually as he was not given to an effective prayer life.
As he began to call on the name of Jesus, a situation reminiscent of the bible story happened? The spirit within the lady began to speak back to him, challenging him. “I know Elijah and I know Peter, but who are you?” asked the evil spirit. This experience caught the brother unawares and he thereafter took ill. It took the prayers of the church and other servants of God to bring recovery to him.
The things we read in the Bible are real and we need to know that they still do happen. This brother must have felt those things happened in Biblical days and have no relevance today. He had to learn the hard way that we are fighting the same enemy the disciples faced and the same tactics he used then are still very potent today.
We should therefore as Christians, not take the issue of prayer lightly as this is the only way we can stay alert in the spirit and be on fire for the Lord.
