The Final Word
by Steve Popoola

Many years ago in Nigeria, there was a particular brand of beer, which gained popularity for a while. One of the things, which made this product popular, was the slogan used for the advertisement jingle, ‘The Final Word’.

I had forgotten all about this beer until several years later when I listened to a minister refer to this same product and he concluded that one of the things, which brought about the collapse of that product in the market, was that slogan.

AI thought about this statement and it rang true. The only one who gives the final word is Jesus. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

Scripture tells us that while Jesus hung on the cross, suffering for the sins of all mankind, He knew that all things had been accomplished, He knew that He had fulfilled all that the scripture had said concerning Him up to that point. He therefore pronounced a note of finality, ‘It is Finished!’ (John 19:28-30)

The shadows had gone and the real thing had come. The form had to give way to the substance. The yearly rituals were over because the blood of bulls and rams could not save us. The precious blood had been shed for the continual washing and remission of sins. It was an end to the old now God had begun a new thing in the history of mankind!

I don’t know what you are going through today. I don’t know what the doctor has told you neither do I know what your banker or lawyer has told you. What I know is that no matter what anyone has said about you, it is not the final word! God alone gives the final word and if He has not spoken, whatever anyone says about you is subject to change.

I read a story on BBC recently, about a South African woman, who had what was referred to as a miracle baby. The story was that the baby grew outside the womb. According to the doctors, the fertilized egg somehow found its way out of the fallopian tube and implanted itself to the mother’s liver, which is a rich source of blood. This baby did not have the protection of the mother’s womb, yet it survived.

Now, the accepted view medically speaking, is that a baby cannot develop outside the womb but this case has proved that God can make things happen as He pleases, that we may know that He has power over all of creation. This reiterates my view that He alone has the final say in your life and in mine as well.

Has anyone told you that your situation is hopeless? Have you been told that there is no other way? I have got news for you, the One who has the final word told me to tell you, that it is not over until it is over.

If God has not given the final word, then the situation confronting you today is subject to change, no matter what anyone says about it, you haven’t heard the last yet, something good is about to happen to you….
