Turn Both On

I got to work one morning, put on my system, and went on to turn on my monitor. I forgot about it for a moment while I busied myself with settling in. Afterwards, I turned to the monitor expecting to see ctrl-Alt-delete on the screen so I could log on.

But behold! the screen was blank though the monitor was on. A quick look at the system, confirmed I only attempted to turn it on, but obviously it didn't come on. It struck me hat, you could turn on your monitor all you want, but until you energize your system, nothing may show on your screen.

Similarly, we could put on a good fascade on the outside, with all the false enthusiasm, forced smiles and the works. However, until we receive power on the inside, it would only hit others as a blank screen--no content, no depth, no power...no impact.

It's a 2-way thing. If we are all powered up on the inside and we lock it up with a frown, a blank expression, a bitter disposition or a negative attitude, we are as good as a powerless monitor with the system on, but a blank screen.

So we must strive to remain fired up on our inside and to maintain an amiable exterior. We need it to be a true blessing to the world around us.
But ye shall receive power...and ye shall be... (Acts 1: 8)
