As one of the worship leaders in my Church, when I choose the songs I would lead in a meeting, I have often found that out of the songs, there often would be one particular song that would keep intruding in my thoughts.

One song in particular that I love singing is, “One Thing Remains” written by Christa Black-Gifford, Brian Johnson & Jeremy Riddle.

The first verse goes as follows;
Higher than the mountains that I face
Stronger than the power of the grave
Constant in the trial and the change
One thing remains
One thing remains

People have various reasons for not believing in God or accepting Jesus into their lives. One of those reasons is that they feel they are so bad that a good God would not want to have a relationship with them. They see how people regards them and how society keeps them at arms length, how then can a holy God look upon them with anything other than disgust. This however goes contrary to what God says in His word; “Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.” (Isaiah 55: 7)

Isn’t that awesome? God does not care how far you’ve gone! He is only interested in what you become, not what you were. He’s love is so deep and wide, He’s got room for everyone!

When we wrong our fellow men, they struggle to forgive us, talk less of forgetting and if we are honest with ourselves, we will admit that its often easier to forgive some others for some offences and more difficult to forgive others but God not only forgives us but chooses to forget our sins as well. The Psalmist describes God’s love and mercy towards us in Psalm 103: 8 - 12.

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbour his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Verse 2 of the song above talks about God’s continuous love towards us;

On and on and on and on it goes
It overwhelms and satisfies my soul
And I never ever have to be afraid
One thing remains

The Chorus sums it all;

Your love never fails
It never gives up
Never runs out on me

Are you afraid? Let God’s love overwhelm you today and you will never have any reason to be afraid.

No matter where you are today, remember this; God’s love never fails and never gives up. He is pursuing you with a love that will never let go.

Do not believe the lie that God hates you. God does hate sin but He loves the sinner and His arms are always wide open to receive as many as come to Him. He will never turn anyone back, ever.
